Since 1996 for an audience aged 6-14 years
The main mission of Opera domani is to involve and make the young audience of the primary and secondary (grade 1) school develop a passion for lyric opera, by operating concretely through the educational channel. Therefore, the project lasts the entire school year.
The first preliminary phase is addressed predominantly to teachers and school institutes, and it provides them a musical updating. The project continues in class with the training of students and it ends in theatre with the active participation in the lyric performance.
Since 2003 our stages have welcomed Opera Family to promote family inclusion from below: moments of sharing amongst different generations in which passionate children make their parents and also grandparents discover the beauty of opera theatres.
The educational path addressed to teachers is organized in three meetings which involve the training of students in class and the viewing of the performance.
The three meetings are led by trainers specialised in the reference frameworks: didactic knowledge about lyric opera, chorus training for the performance and detailed dramaturgic analysis. During the meetings, teachers will be provided with instruments and modalities that easily and effectively transmit the most important and delicate notions to children of different ages.
With the aim of developing a consideration throughout the year, each teacher will receive a didactic pamphlet with a depth analysis of the themes of the operas and links with the current context. This will help boys and girls to either get closer to lyric opera and use it as an effective mean of understanding and personal growth.
Students will receive a poetical interactive libretto about the opera, enhanced by scores, didactic and recreational activities. Every year, an audiobook is recorded to make students familiarize with the plot in different ways, and also a cd with the audio recordings of the songs that students will prepare as chorus of the opera.
Shortly before the date of the performance it is possible to get the help of a lyric singer in classroom, to verify all together that everyone is ready to live the experience as protagonist. Afterwards, during the performance, the audience is invited to participate actively by interacting and singing together with the artists of a real lyric team with director, orchestra and singers in an atmosphere that only the theatre can create.
It lasts 70 minutes and includes a short introduction of the orchestra leader.
